Eyeshield 21
Sena has just entered 10th grade in a new school, determined to begin a new life, far from his old life of being bullied. What he didn't know was that years of getting beaten up and running away from the bullies has trained him to be fast on his feet. This talent was discovered by Hiruma, the devil of Deimon High and founder of its American Football Club, the Devil Bats. He then forced Sena to join the club as it's star runningback, Eyeshield 21!
The story is written by Inagaki Riichirou and drawn by Murata Yuusuke. It is serialized in Shounen Jump, and is also available in tankoubon form. Shueisha's graphic novel releases are listed here, while Viz releases can be found on their site.

"The most ferocious team! We're the devilish bats! The name's 'DEIMON DEVIL BATS'!" -Hiruma YouichiDevilbats, the american football team of Deimon High. Ferocious? Vicious? Crazy? Sure, they are, just as long as they're under the leadership of Hiruma Youichi, the Demon of Deimon High and quarterback of the team. They didn't come to beat the enemy, they came to slaughter them.
The Devilbats weren't much of a team before, as it used to only consist of 3 permanent members, Hiruma Youichi, Kurita Ryoukan, and Musashi, usually asking, or in Hiruma's case, blackmailing, members of other sports clubs to help them out during game days. The group only started to solidify when Kobayakawa Sena was forced to be the team's runningback, and one by one, more members started to fill out various positions in the team.
The chemistry between the Devilbats is obvious, as soon as they started playing their games. Each player has some sort of passion while playing, whether it is proving they're worth it, or just the drive to win. The relationship between the members, ranging from friendship, respect to competitiveness, along with Hiruma's harsh form of motivation, clearly motivates each team member to move forward and reach their ultimate goal: the Christmas Bowl.
